This time we teamed up with <a href="https://digit.ac.uk/" target="_blank">DIGIT Lab</a>, a UKRI Next Stage Digital Economy Research Centre, and we had fantastic speakers lined up.<br /><br />Day 1 was all about ‘Research Challenges and Opportunities’ in Digital Transformation and the speakers explored why research in the digital world is fundamentally different and what that means for the future of research. The session closed with a call for action, offering insights especially for early career researchers into their future challenges and opportunities and opening ways for joining the Digital Transformation community.<br /><br />Day 2 focused on ‘Delivering Impact in Digital Transformation’. With incredible activities around digital transformation happening all over the world, the speakers tackled the questions: What are the big impact opportunities where we can really make a difference? What are the barriers for big companies to make progress? Where does Digit Lab come in? And again this session ended with an offer of opportunities especially for practitioners who deal with large amounts of data to join the Digital Transformation community.<br /><br /> Find out more about this conference and watch the recordings on the <a href="https://tommyflowersnetwork.blogspot.com/2022/01/virtual-conference-digital.html">TFNetworkSpring22 conference website</a>, or find a playlist on our <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOLrtWZedHwhztNx76zlPwQ" target="_blank">YouTube Channel</a> with many more recordings of previous conferences.<div><br /></div><div><br /><br /></div></div>Tommy Flowers Networkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06815443794867605097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6119937235568351559.post-53671843333418915352022-06-07T01:41:00.005-07:002022-06-07T01:49:17.429-07:00Regius Professor Rahim Tafazolli, University of Surrey on ' The role of 5G+ on future digital transformation strategies of large organisations'<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAUsXK4Y-X_MiwEhHE76fNunaOOe_ubyTlZW534fF4Bn8p4stOMAd-nMVoMydqWS8R6b-EXjGcJQRfpiBlETp9MZm-1Ylzvdu7J-nt44xbr-vMilT24L5MtsBXIJIf5B_c7FJReKzrqEMP7soROvNr2yYQRAsRs2BQ1UgriME-g3fKAQoxTds5UBc/s344/Rahim%20-%20Library%20Image.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="344" data-original-width="288" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAUsXK4Y-X_MiwEhHE76fNunaOOe_ubyTlZW534fF4Bn8p4stOMAd-nMVoMydqWS8R6b-EXjGcJQRfpiBlETp9MZm-1Ylzvdu7J-nt44xbr-vMilT24L5MtsBXIJIf5B_c7FJReKzrqEMP7soROvNr2yYQRAsRs2BQ1UgriME-g3fKAQoxTds5UBc/s320/Rahim%20-%20Library%20Image.jpg" width="268" /></a></div><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">Conference TFNetworkSpring22</b></b><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">Digital Transformation</span><br /></span><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span><a href="https://tommyflowersnetwork.blogspot.com/2022/01/virtual-conference-digital.html">Conference overview</a> <br /><span style="color: #e69138;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span> </span><a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJ-Vd4W1U4yhdC9Sb83L8jZBI-7Vv-LQs" target="_blank">YouTube TFNetworkSummer21 Conference Playlist</a><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span></b></p><p></p><div><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Date</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: 4th May 2022<br /></span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Time</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: </span></div><div>12:15 12:30</div><div><br /></div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">Rahim Tafazolli </span></span></span>is Regius Professor of Electronic Engineering, a Professor of Mobile and Satellite Communications, the Director of Institute of Communication Systems (ICS) and Director and founder of 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) and 6GIC at the University of Surrey. Saeema’s research focuses upon improvements of both products (including product service systems) and processes (creative, product development and innovation) through developing a scientific understanding of the processes, contributing to Design cognition, knowledge and data structuring, Data driven design, Quantifying User experiences. She has worked with diverse industries; aerospace (Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems); oil (AK MH); consumer (GN Netcom); medical (Novo Nordisk), and across psychology, computing and design. She works closely with a range of industries; complex product, aerospace (Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems); oil (AK MH); consumer (GN Netcom); medical (Novo Nordisk), and adopts a multidisciplinary approach including psychology, computing and design, for example leading to approaches to auto-index aerospace reports, through an ontology based on design cognition and Natural Language Processing. Her research was one of the first to use a human centred approach to structuring and automating indexing of knowledge, and; to develop approaches to quantify user experiences, leading to a data driven-approach to assess comfort in headsets (now embedded within GN Netcom Product development processes and leading to awards for comfort).<div><br /></div><div> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Hyw0qp0QOJs" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div>Tommy Flowers Networkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06815443794867605097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6119937235568351559.post-20264969757676967202022-05-03T06:49:00.003-07:002022-06-06T06:01:13.644-07:00Esra Kasapoglu, UKRI on "Why is research in the digital world so different – the UKRI view"<p><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;"></b></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;"><br /></b></b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeNJmWLOG0EYf6_LLxe5dTg8kzNtdAQx9j5eOri8SQpHtfJRDd9S3pdDfrZK0V25uU1ur4TAfZzNXxhLkPKQqaV5mCXpwmkudYD2YvmeOk3neLqnvnGlnmd3vaYsgz-D4KLHm_gokPd9Us7Z274P_McDjZlNJwDCLrxki-pLIN3dtkjRBNJS6EdPsf/s696/Esra%20pink%20shirt%20(2).JPG" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="696" data-original-width="535" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeNJmWLOG0EYf6_LLxe5dTg8kzNtdAQx9j5eOri8SQpHtfJRDd9S3pdDfrZK0V25uU1ur4TAfZzNXxhLkPKQqaV5mCXpwmkudYD2YvmeOk3neLqnvnGlnmd3vaYsgz-D4KLHm_gokPd9Us7Z274P_McDjZlNJwDCLrxki-pLIN3dtkjRBNJS6EdPsf/s320/Esra%20pink%20shirt%20(2).JPG" width="246" /></a></b></b></div><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">Conference TFNetworkSpring22</b></b><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">Digital Transformation</span><br /></span><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span><a href="https://tommyflowersnetwork.blogspot.com/2022/01/virtual-conference-digital.html">Conference overview</a> <br /><span style="color: #e69138;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span> </span><a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJ-Vd4W1U4yhdC9Sb83L8jZBI-7Vv-LQs" target="_blank">YouTube TFNetworkSummer21 Conference Playlist</a><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span></b></p><p></p><div><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Date</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: 4th May 2022<br /></span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Time</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: </span></div><div>10:05 - 10:15<br />11:30 - 12:15 Panel discussion "Research Challenges and Opportunities"</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="background-color: white; color: #8c03fd; font-family: Calibri; font-size: xx-large;">Esra Kasapoglu </span>is Director of AI and Data Economy. The relatively quick development timelines and lack of clear regulatory guidelines have led to a number of these technologies reaching veterinarians, the carers of the animals. </p><p class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">Digitalisation is therefore, helping to drive value growth in animal health products but still the adaption of some of these technologies has not reached their optimum. It mediates our burgeoning access to information, products & services, and even each other – co-ordinating the complex and often ephemeral delivery chains behind each transaction. Telecoms is no exception, where it helps networks and their management achieve economic scale, managing the ever-growing complexity of the technology and provider relationships. <br /><br />These capabilities have even more impact when the technology is equipped to learn from its own performance and adapt processes to improve outcomes. This allows human beings to add their value at higher levels of the business, devolving the repetitive minutiae to machines. This brings into scope a new raft of critical technological and human behavioural challenges, which need deep research to help us navigate. <br /><br />The talk will describe some of these research challenges, referencing one or two examples and experiences from the work here at BT, and with academic partners.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>

Thales is a designer of large systems gathering and processing data both in defence and civil systems from land, sea air and space. Over the last few decades our sensors have become far more capable, some gathering several peta-bytes of data per day. . Processing and storage capacity of modern systems combined with advanced algorithms allow us to do far more to extract very weak signals from data and help find objects of interest, detect changes or to predict when something is about to fail. This presentation gives an industrial perspective on the importance of data driven decision making and how systems we produce in Thales help our customers to make those decisions in a timely and accurate way.<br /><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/89kakH2bwYI" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div>Tommy Flowers Networkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06815443794867605097noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6119937235568351559.post-69269294030451691462022-04-11T01:37:00.008-07:002022-06-01T02:55:29.970-07:00Marc Geall, SAP on "Helping Businesses become intelligent Enterprises in an ever changing world"<p><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLhlqprzFpQrUlIOciAyKyndNceCzpb9PbD8rgPJDUliMX0rtFFZzLunTmOrW4bO54kxRhropCwybD7Y5FJ_lrwW6bt3_8tSYFRm1Od8nPjOHx28z_2loNG-9hqtB69TBXbb8GGTytMoRfTdL9ExJAbj-dN_B0uXsJk1vxKoukl_xxY2wzrNBVptB/s1097/MarcGeall-cropped.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1097" data-original-width="881" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglLhlqprzFpQrUlIOciAyKyndNceCzpb9PbD8rgPJDUliMX0rtFFZzLunTmOrW4bO54kxRhropCwybD7Y5FJ_lrwW6bt3_8tSYFRm1Od8nPjOHx28z_2loNG-9hqtB69TBXbb8GGTytMoRfTdL9ExJAbj-dN_B0uXsJk1vxKoukl_xxY2wzrNBVptB/s320/MarcGeall-cropped.jpg" width="257" /></a></b></div><p><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><b style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium;">Conference TFNetworkSpring22</b></b></p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-weight: 400;"></p><p style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-weight: 400;"><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">Digital Transformation</span><br /></span><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span><a href="https://tommyflowersnetwork.blogspot.com/2022/01/virtual-conference-digital.html">Conference overview </a> <br /><span style="color: #e69138;"><span style="color: #8c03fd;">➣</span> </span><a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJ-Vd4W1U4yhdC9Sb83L8jZBI-7Vv-LQs" target="_blank">YouTube TFNetworkSummer21 Conference Playlist</a><span style="color: #e69138;"> </span></b></p><p></p><div><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Date</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: 5th May 2022<br /></span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Time</b><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">: </span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">11:00 - 11:15 </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">Presentation</span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;">11:30 - 12:15 Panel discussion "How to create impact in Digital Transformation</span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11pt;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="color: #8c03fd; font-family: Calibri;"><span><span><span style="color: #8c03fd; font-family: Calibri;"><span><span><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Marc Geall </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>is a senior executive at SAP with the current responsibility as COO of SAP’s Data & Analytics development organisation.
